David Frieze, a noted ship builder in his time built this beautiful home (his name is well known with many of the locals). Originally it was built as a Cape Cod in 1830. The summer kitchen to the rear was constructed in 1840. Eventually the roof was raised in 1870 to provide extra height and more space. At this time the front of the house was given a new look with an American Federal façade. In 1893 the three front dormers were added.
