This two story brick structure was originally a Presbyterian Church, first opened in 1871. In 1925 it was purchased by the Rothsay Lodge and used as a Masonic Temple until present day. When the Masonic acquired the building, they altered it by placing a floor to divide the interior into upper and lower levels. On the main floor is a huge open area approximately 28’ x 44’ plus a kitchen and bath. The upper floor is 27’ x 48’ with high ceilings and two additional smaller rooms. The building sits on a solid stone foundation, has an oil fired heating system and town services. The building is an excellent example of late nineteenth-century Gothic Revival style architecture which includes elements such as the steeply pitched gable roof, large Gothic front window, stone-capped brick buttresses and narrow lancet windows along the side. All the brick used for the construction was locally made by Edward Walker. This unique building is a Provincial Heritage Building and has a prominent location in the Town of Bridgetown adjacent to the main bridge crossing the Annapolis River. This heritage property is now offered for sale and is ideal for a variety of purposes. Groups and private individuals who are looking for large, architectural, unique space are encouraged to contact us for a personal tour.
