The first time I visited this property I was impressed by the wonderful level of privacy. It's situated near the end of a gravel road, perched on a gentle hill and surrounded by blueberry fields, forest and Crown Lands of Nova Scotia's Department of Natural Resources. There is only one other home on the road. The property includes 17.5 acres with blueberries, apple trees, gardens and mature trees. The house dates back to the 1870s and I'm told it was actually two homes joined together. It's very neat and quite original. It sits on an excellent foundation, part of which is concrete and the other half is dry stacked stone. It's dry and high. This home has been well maintained over the years with many upgrades. It is fully insulated and all the doors and windows have been replaced. The exterior has cedar shingles on the side walls and asphalt shingles on the roof.

Inside, you'll love the hand-hewn beamed ceilings, wide plank flooring and unique character. The ceilings are lower than 8 feet which adds to the charm but if you are over 6'2'', you may find them too low. Talk about charm, you enter into a huge room with lots of windows. It is currently used as an entry, but could be a family room, studio, home office or dining. Off this room is a back hallway and stairs to the second floor. To the right you walk into the livingroom, again with beamed ceilings, plank flooring, fireplace, and a door to the large side deck. Adjoining the livingroom is an eat-in kitchen with lots of cabinets, windows on 3 sides, a woodstove and room for a dining table and 4 - 6 chairs. Tucked in behind the livingroom is a guest bedroom with a bathroom. There are 2 staircases to the second floor; one back in the entry/hall area and a second in the kitchen that goes up to the master bedroom. It's a good size and has an ensuite bathroom with a claw-foot tub and separate shower. The second stairway goes to two additional bedrooms. So, you could have 4 bedrooms, if required. There are lots of windows and nice views out every window.

The house has good systems including dug well, septic system, upgraded plumbing and heating, woodstove and oil furnace, new in 2019. There's also a propane fireplace in the livingroom, cable and internet.

Now, here's where it gets interesting. There's also a second ''cottage style'', 1.5 story building with an attached workshop. This building at one time was home to pottery making and the attached shop was used for the kiln. The main floor is open concept with a kitchen counter and sink and a small bath with shower and toilet. This cottage also has its own septic system. Upstairs is a loft bedroom. This cottage has not been used for several years, but could be an amazing studio, guest cottage or perhaps the start to your B & B business.

There's also a second well on the property and a small shed for lawn tractor and gardening equipment. The home is easy to heat. There are decks and gardens for relaxing. Lots of wild life. Sunsets and stunning fall colours. Apples and blueberries, more than you could ever eat in a year. Good soil for your garden. And, easy access to rivers and lakes. It's nicely secluded about 6 minutes in off Highway 7 and within 25 minutes to the University Town of Antigonish. Charm you will be hard-pressed to duplicate. And, priced fairly.
